How can I learn about funding opportunities?

The City of Boston offers different ways to get money for projects, businesses, and training. These are called funding opportunities. You can find out about these opportunities from different city departments like the Office of Workforce Development and GrowBoston.

Here are some ways to learn about funding opportunities:

  • GrowBoston Funding Opportunities: GrowBoston helps people who work in urban agriculture, which is like farming in the city. They have current funding opportunities, such as the 2026 Garden Supplies Grant, which is open until April 9, 2026, at 4 pm. This grant offers up to $2,000 per garden or food forest site for tools, equipment, seeds, and other supplies. GrowBoston also had a FY26 Community Garden Grant that closed on March 6, 2026, offering up to $300,000 to support community gardens. You can contact GrowBoston at 617-635-3880.

  • Workforce Development Grantmaking: The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) gives out over $10 million in grants each year to help Boston residents get good jobs and be more stable with money. As of February 2026, OWD is looking for a Bridge Program Training provider to teach Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training and job readiness skills. Applications for this closed on February 20, 2026. OWD also helps young people aged 14-24 through programs like YouthWorks. You can sign up to get updates about future funding opportunities from OWD.

Opportunity Fund

https://www.boston.gov/departments/arts-and-culture/opportunity-fund
We're providing project-based support to Boston-based artists and cultural workers to create and present community-centered arts experiences that expand access to creative expression across all neighborhoods. The Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture (MOAC) believes artists and cultural workers play a vital role in shaping a healthy, vibrant, and just society. To support this belief, the Opportunity Fund provides project-based grants to Boston-based artists and cultural workers to create and present creative, community-centered experiences that expand access to arts and culture across all neighborhoods. Funds may support all or part of a confirmed project that is publicly accessible, offers a clear community benefit, and is entirely free to participants and audience members. Applicants are encouraged to share how their work promotes inclusion, representation, and shared cultural experience.
