DESIGNER SERVICES FOR THE PAULINE AGASSIZ SHAW SCHOOL PROJECT

The scope of services includes but is not limited to the preparation of a Feasibility Study which will include the development and evaluation of potential alternative solutions and continue through the Schematic Design Phase of the preferred alternative.  Subject to the acceptance of a Project by the MSBA and adequate authorized funding, the contract between the Owner and the Designer may be amended to include continued designer services through design development, construction contract documents, bidding, award of construction contract(s), construction administration, final closeout and warranty period of the potential Project.   

Completion shall be 256 weeks after execution of a contract. Applicants must be a registered Architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The City is considering delivering the project using the Construction Management at Risk method pursuant to the applicable requirements of M.G.L. c.149A. 

Applicants must provide the names of key personnel and consultants that will be utilized on this project for the following disciplines: Architecture, Educational Programming, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Structural Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Electrical/Lighting, Data/Communications, Environmental Permitting, Geotechnical Engineering, Geoenvironmental Engineering, Hazardous Materials, Cost Estimating, Kitchen/Food Service Consultant, Acoustical Consultant, Specifications Consultant, Technology Consultant/Audio Visual Consultant, Sustainable/Green Design/Renewable Energy Consultant, Code Consultant, Accessibility Consultant/Universal Design Consultant, Traffic Consultant, Furniture Fixtures and Equipment Consultant, Site Surveying, Security Consultant.

Applicant firms must have experience on the following types of projects: Construction Management at Risk; Construction and Renovation of K-12 schools in Massachusetts; those receiving the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) certification; Community Engagement and construction in an urban school environment with site constraints.

• Designer firms are hereby invited to attend an optional briefing starting at the Pauline Agassiz Shaw School, 429 Norfolk Street, Dorchester, MA 02124 and then going immediately to the Charles H. Taylor School located at 1060 Morton Street, Boston, MA 02126 scheduled for January 6, 2026, at 7:00 AM. 

All technical questions concerning this Designer Package are to be submitted in writing to PFD’s Bid Counter at bid.info@boston.gov on or before January 9, 2026, no later than 12:00pm. 

Completed SOQ packages must be returned to the Awarding Authority by January 21, 2026, no later than 12:00 p.m. at 26 Court Street, First Floor, Boston, MA 02108. LATE QUALIFICATION STATEMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

If you choose to submit your SOQ in person, please submit four (4) hard copies bound and two (2) USB flash drives with pdf format and place all contents in a sealed package marked: Shaw-Taylor Elementary School, Project No. 7328.
