Mt. Hope Cemetery Improvements (Phase 1: Roads)

Mt. Hope Cemetery is not only a historic landmark but a sacred space for families and the community. The first phase of this project will focus on repairing and upgrading the cemetery’s roadways and pathways to ensure they remain safe, welcoming, and accessible for all who visit. Mt. Hope Cemetery was established in 1852.

The work will begin with:

  • A review of existing site studies
  • Field verification of current conditions, and
  • The development of a phased strategy for improvements.

This phase will also address drainage systems, including catch basins and curbs, to enhance both safety and function. While the focus is on the most urgent needs, the project will establish design standards to guide future improvements.

Because Mt. Hope is such an important part of the community’s history and daily life, the project team will host a community briefing during this first phase to share updates and invite input from the public this winter.
