Project Description
Resilient Moakley Park is currently in an 18 month design and permitting phase.
The goals of this work include:
- To create a construction ready project for the first phase (Phase A) of the project
- Complete design and permitting for the resilient landscape berm and coastal landscape, protecting South Boston from projected coastal flooding
- Develop the design for the full park that will best serve the South Boston community
What have we heard so far?
- Improved playing fields is the top priority: The new plan will create fields that stay dry, have lighting, bleachers, and shaded team benches
- Spaces for seasonal + cultural events: The park improvements will include plazas with community gathering in mind. Across the park there will be flexible spaces for picnicking, music, food trucks, performances and much more.
