Sharon Haggins-Dunn’s monumental mural Black Women is one of the original murals from Boston's black murals movement of the 1960’s and 70’s. Come gain new insights into this major work at 4 Yarmouth St, Boston followed by a reviting conversation between Sharon, her daughter Brigette and contempary multidisciplanary artist Rixy across the street at The South End Technology Center (359 Columbus Ave, Boston) Roxbury Community College near the Media Arts Building (1234 Columbus Ave).

A reception will follow where you as a community member can be interviewed and asked to share your story about the past, present and future of Roxbury.

All are welcome to this free and public event!

*This public conversation is part of the National Center of Afro-American Artists' new project, FINDING OURSELVES IN PUBLIC SPACES: An Un-monument Project, and it is funded by The Mayor's Office of Arts & Culture's Un-monument Initiative, supported by a grant from The Mellon Foundation.

Join us at City Hall Plaza for a special guided tour of the Boston Press Photographers Association (BPPA) Pictures of the Year Exhibit—an annual showcase honoring the most compelling photojournalism from New England-based photographers. This will be followed by a Walk-through of the Boston City Hall Galleries.

The BPPA, the nation's oldest press and television photographers’ association, is committed to advancing journalism through the power of photography. Now in its fifth year, this exhibit offers a striking visual record of the moments and stories that have shaped our communities over the past year. It’s a unique public installation that highlights how local photojournalism can illuminate issues, build connections, and transform shared spaces.

BPPA President and Boston Globe photographer Jessica Rinaldi and BPPA Board Member and GBH Photo Director Meredith Nierman, will lead a tour and discussion alongside several of the honored photographers, offering behind-the-scenes insights into their work and the importance of photojournalism.
