Eligibility and Services

The Ryan White Part A program offers eligible people core medical services and essential support services.

Eligibility

To be eligible for services you must be:

  • HIV positive
  • Live in Bristol, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, and Worcester county in Massachusetts; Hillsborough, Rockingham, or Strafford county in New Hampshire
  • Income 500% or less of the current federal poverty level

Services provided

Services

ADAP provides approved medications to low-income individuals living with HIV who have no or limited health care coverage. This service aims to ease financial stress and barriers to adhering to a medication regiment as prescribed. 

Medical Case Management aims to improve the long-term health of clients. This includes help accessing and maintaining medical care, education on medication, and help applying for state and federal benefits. 

Medical case management programs establish and maintain effective links with primary care and other service providers. They prevent duplication of medical case management across providers. They also provide services in a harm reduction framework, including risk assessment and risk reduction planning. Client-centered services support a client's self-sufficiency and independence.

Medical Nutrition Therapy gives clients education and coaching on nutrition to stay healthy. Providers for this service work to improve nutritional deficiencies and create food stability based on their needs. 

Oral Health helps clients access dental care with referrals to dentists and financial help if eligible. Oral Health Care aims to increase awareness of oral health to overall health and well-being by increasing access to preventive and treatment dental activities. 

Emergency Financial Assistance provides limited one-time or short-term payments to assist with an urgent need for essential items and services necessary to improve health outcomes, including paying for utilities, housing, food, transportation, and medication not covered. 

Food Bank & Home Delivered Meals provides food items, hot meals, or vouchers to purchase food. This service can also be used for personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and water filtration systems in areas where issues of water safety exist. This service aims to improve access to food sources and improve food stability and nutrition for people living with HIV. 

Housing services provide transitional, short-term, or emergency housing assistance to clients to prevent homelessness and receive medical care if needed. This service aims to assist clients in their housing search, provide support in linkage and/or referrals to permanent housing, and provide short-term financial assistance for housing needs. 

Medical Transportation service provides non-emergency transportation for clients to access or retain in core medical and support services. The aim of this service is to reduce any barriers to retention in care due to transportation resources. 

Non-Medical Case Management helps clients connect to services such as employment, legal, education, and other support services. This service focuses on improving access to care. This includes improved access to both core medical and support services. These activities usually happen in non-medical community-based facilities. Client-centered services support a client's self-sufficiency and independence.

Other Professional Services provides clients with professional licensed and/or qualified legal consultant services. This service aims to reduce the effects of HIV discrimination, assist with access to and maintenance of other services, and remove any legal barriers to improving health outcomes. Services include the preparation of legal documents and assistance with public benefits.

Psychosocial Support services provide group or individual support and counseling services to address behavioral and/or physical health concerns. The service aims to support clients' engagement in health care through the development of key behavioral health skills and reduce feelings of social isolation by fostering a sense of community.
