Age Strong marks 'The Longest Day'
The Age Strong Commission supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s THE LONGEST DAY campaign, raising awareness of those living with Alzheimer’s Disease, other dementias, and their care partners.
THE LONGEST DAY is the day with the most sunlight — the summer solstice. Annually, on the summer solstice, people are invited to wear purple and to share their stories about living with or alongside Alzheimer's disease, other dementias, and its challenges. As part of our Dementia Friendly work, the Age Strong Commission will hold an awareness event on June 21 on City Hall Plaza. People are invited to wear purple, get information/resources from Age Strong partners, and to share YOUR story.
Sharing YOUR story is a powerful way to inspire others. It helps others know they’re not alone in their struggle. It helps raise awareness of the disease, its impact, how to live with it, and help others live with it.
