Tree Removal Hearing: Fenway / Longwood Medical Area

In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 87, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department will hold a virtual public hearing on a request to remove one (1) public shade tree at 41 & 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur in Fenway / Longwood Medical Area.

    This removal request at 41 & 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur, Fenway/Longwood, is in order for the Boston Water and Sewer Commission to replace sewer and drain pipe segments that are in danger of collapsing. The trees are directly on top of the pipe segments requiring replacement. The pipes operate through gravity and cannot be relocated; they must be replaced in place. The following trees are being requested for removal:

    • One (1) Linden tree at 41 Avenue Louis Pasteur measuring 15 inches DBH (Diameter at Breast Height).
    • Three (3) Linden trees at 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur measuring 12 inches DBH, 3 inches DBH and 11 inches DBH.

    The hearing will be held by the City of Boston’s Tree Warden (or designee) remotely on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. via Zoom.

    Public comments, questions or objections to the removal of these trees must be submitted in writing prior to or during the hearing to the Tree Warden, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd floor, Roxbury, MA 02118 or by emailing trees@boston.gov with “Avenue Louis Pasteur Tree Hearing” in the subject line.
