  2. Background

    The Surveillance Oversight Advisory Board was established by the Ordinance on Surveillance Oversight and Information Sharing passed by the City Council in October 2021. The Board serves as an advisory body to host discussion and provide recommendations on surveillance issues to the Mayor.

    The Board includes members representing the Massachusetts American Civil Liberties Union, the Boston Police Department, City Council, and the Mayor’s Office, as well as academic experts on surveillance issues.
