Heat Emergency in Boston

Mayor Wu announced a heat emergency in the City of Boston through Wednesday, July 17. Cooling centers will be open at 14 BCYF community centers Monday through Wednesday, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Kenya Thompson

Manager of Projects and Planning

Kenya Thompson, the Manager of Projects and Planning to the City’s Community Preservation Act Office, is a landscape designer dedicated to sustaining unique and socially progressive spaces throughout the neighborhoods of Boston.

She is a native of Roxbury and has worked on a variety of urban design initiatives across the city. Her experience in neighborhood planning, streetscape improvements and design review has allowed her to engage in design solutions that serve a diverse public. Kenya seeks to advance well designed projects which will provide a beneficial impact on communities and the environment.

Outside of architectural reviews and civic commission meetings, she enjoys traveling, spending mornings at the beach and playing a good game of badminton.

Kenya holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Maryland, College Park and is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Please contact her with any questions or ideas for community preservation projects.
