Jeff Kaplan
Jeff Kaplan is the Senior Geospatial Analyst on the Citywide Analytics Team where he works on analytical projects, provides geospatial support to teammates, and helps manage Boston's geospatial data infrastructure. Jeff has been working in local government since 2016 and is passionate about finding ways to improve the way government works for communities and city workers. Working for the New York City Department of Finance, he trained many new GIS users and redesigned many of his unit's guidelines for the public to make rules and regulations easier to understand. At Bolton Point Water System in Ithaca, N.Y., Jeff had the opportunity to implement an asset management system for the utility as well as make high-impact improvements to their geospatial data.
Jeff also has a passion for sharing his love of GIS and mapping. whether that is talking about old maps (maybe a little too much) with friends and coworkers, or through teaching in the classroom. He also loves biking, cooking, and taking care of his collection of houseplants.
