Mark is a design engineer, artist, educator, and systems thinker passionate about helping others through the power of intentional and impact oriented human-centered design. A self-proclaimed “people person” and huge nerd, you may catch him sparking up a conversation with anybody willing to chat or with his head buried deep in a book at a nearby park or body of water, regardless of its size.
He aims to make civic life more resilient by collaborating and co-designing with community members to address key issues and create an atmosphere of openness and co-ownership.
Before joining the Mechanics, Mark worked as the access programs coordinator at El Museo del Barrio in East Harlem, New York and just recently received a joint Master of Arts in Design Engineering from Brown University and RISD. He’s excited to be working with both the Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics and the Mayor’s Office of Food Justice as the Food Security Design Fellow.
