Liz Sullivan

Director of External Affairs

Liz Sullivan is the Director of External Affairs at the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, where she leads a cross-functional team overseeing communications, strategic partnerships, community relations, public programming, fundraising, and marketing. She has played a key role in modernizing engagement strategies, streamlining operations, and securing funding to enhance Boston’s public spaces.

Prior to this role, Liz served as Executive Director of Brighton Main Streets, where she spearheaded economic development initiatives, placemaking projects, and public-private partnerships to revitalize the district. Previously, she was a senior digital marketing and community manager at Babson College, leveraging storytelling and digital strategy to strengthen institutional engagement.

In addition to her public sector leadership, Liz has served since 2019 as a panelist for the National Science Foundation’s Smart and Connected Communities program, evaluating research projects that advance innovation in government and civic technology.

A problem-solver with a passion for operational excellence, Liz has contributed to key City of Boston initiatives, including the Commonwealth of Massachusetts COVID-19 Reopening Task Force, the Robert Gould Shaw and Massachusetts 54th Regiment Memorial Restoration Committee, the City’s Racial Equity and Leadership Training program, and the Planning Advisory Council’s Community Engagement Working Group.

Liz holds an MBA from Babson College and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Boston College. A Brighton resident, she commutes to work by bike most days and enjoys skiing, hiking, and traveling with her husband and two children.
