Jo-Ann Barbour is a Licensed, Independent, Clinical, Social Worker (LICSW) with over forty years of casework, supervisory, administrative, community and program development experience in the field of human services and housing. She has worked for community-based non-profit and public sector organizations specializing in housing and community-based services for diverse populations.
For the last ten years, she has served as the Executive Director of Charlesview, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the well-being of individuals and families and to promoting the diversity and vibrancy of the Allston-Brighton community by providing healthy, affordable homes; offering and supporting programs designed to enrich, educate, and inspire; and engaging in innovative philanthropy. As Executive Director she is responsible for the oversight of Charlesview, Inc.’s real estate, design and implementation of its supportive services, and philanthropic strategies. She is tasked with building constructive partnerships with city, state, and community organizations to advance the mission of the organization.
Jo-Ann participates in a number of collaborative and community task force steering committees and boards including the Allston/Brighton Health Collaborative, Allston/Brighton PAUSES (formerly the Allston/Brighton Substance Abuse Task Force), the Allston/Brighton Community Development Corporation Housing Committee, the Allston/Brighton Adult Education Coalition, the Oak Square YMCA, the Coalition for a Just Allston/Brighton, and the St. Elizabeth’s Determination of Need Advisory Committee. She has been an active participant in several Impact Advisory Groups addressing development proposals in the Allston/Brighton Community.
Jo-Ann earned a master’s degree in social work at Boston University School of Social Work, Boston, Massachusetts, and has a B.S. degree from Utica College of Syracuse University, Utica, New York.
