The OYEA Professional Development Series supports Boston's youth population by offering high quality professional educational opportunities to the individuals who serve them every day. This annual series is planned with Boston's youth-serving individuals in mind, offering access to trainings focused on youth work including best practices, mental health, first-aid, and much more.

Combatting Compassion Fatigue: Hope as a Discipline |
Ernesto "Eroc" Arroyo-Montano | Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building | Youth workers pour into young people every day and rarely get poured into themselves. Over time, that imbalance can show up as exhaustion, numbness, cynicism, shortened patience, or withdrawal from the work that once felt like purpose. Whether you're deep in it, feeling the edges, or want to recognize it before it arrives, this workshop is for you. This session names compassion fatigue and the deeper wound beneath it: doing transformative work inside systems never designed to sustain us or the young people we serve. Through story sharing, popular education, and embodied practice, participants will have space to be honest, share what sustains them, and leave reminded of why they started. |
