Parkman Playground opening

Join Mayor Martin J. Walsh and local residents for the unveiling of over $1.7 million in improvements at Parkman Playground in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Jamaica Plain.  Refreshments provided by HP Hood.

Dating back to 1924, the revitalized Francis Parkman Playground was renovated by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department with site improvements including an inclusive play structure and springers for children ages 2 to 5, a larger inclusive climbing structure for ages 5 to 12 and amenities including a dish swing, embankment slide, exercise station, drinking bottle filler, splash pad with runnel, picnic shelter, and a trike loop/mini basketball hoop area. Other improvements include new fencing, site furniture, LED lighting, trees, and plantings.

Join the Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics (MONUM) and the Solomon Foundation in partnership with #MattapanLove for the Mattapan Square Pop-Up Plaza. We hope the pop-up in front of a local favorite, Brothers Deli & Restaurant, will be a space for the community to play, gather, and connect.  The plaza will be up from 12 pm to 6 pm. Feel free to come in and out of the space, stop by for a quick look or sit down and enjoy.

 

We are excited to be a #MattapanLove collaborator this summer! #MattapanLove is a series of community events sponsored by Boston's Food Forest, Farmer's Collaborative, Greater Mattapan Neighborhood Council and Ideal Mixer. The purpose is to promote Mattapan as a destination and activate vacant spaces with art & culture with events in Ryan Park on July 28th and August 18th. Experience a temporary pedestrian plaza demonstration in East Boston's Day Square

Join the Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics (MONUM) and the Solomon Foundation for the Day Square Pop-Up Plaza.
