Celebrate the opening of Timothy Hyunsoo Lee's solo exhibition, in which the artist explores the experience of existing between cultures, never fully here nor there. Drawing from his life as a queer immigrant who arrived in New York City as an undocumented child, Lee examines how gestures of invisibility and hypervisibility function as survival strategies for immigrant communities navigating layered identities within hostile environments.

Since 1960, Boston and Strasbourg have been sister cities, connected by shared values of democracy, education, and cultural exchange. Strasbourg, like Boston, is a center of government, economy, culture, education, and medicine. Strasbourg and Boston are known for their majestic churches and beautiful historic landmarks. Both cities place a great emphasis on historic preservation. In this exhibition, photographers from both cities turn their lenses on familiar streets, revealing what makes each location unique while discovering unexpected resonances across the Atlantic.

Boston Busing in Chinatown, 1975 is a photo exhibition highlighting the mothers, students, and teachers who organized for educational equity during Boston’s court-ordered school desegregation. In 1975, when Boston Public Schools began busing elementary students to other neighborhoods, Chinese immigrant families faced a critical challenge: while desegregation aimed to provide equal access to quality education, the district had not addressed concerns about safety, communication barriers, and representation for Chinese children being bused into predominantly white neighborhoods.

In response, Chinese immigrant mothers organized to demand safety and educational rights for their children, culminating in a highly successful school boycott that brought the Boston School Committee to the negotiating table. Their victory was an early example of working-class immigrant women wielding collective power within Chinatown and at the city level—a story that has been largely absent from mainstream narratives about Boston’s busing crisis.

In July 2025, the Immigrant History Trail team gathered former teachers, parents, and students involved in this historic moment for a reunion picnic at Posner Hall, where Chinese parents issued their nine demands fifty years earlier. The gathering created a living, photographic “un-monument”—an opportunity for reflection, conversation, and intergenerational connection.

The program features a lecture series designed to be accessible and engaging. To bridge the gap between the academy and the community, the space will be transformed into a vibrant marketplace featuring l, DJ Troy Frost, and curated food and beverage pairings The event will take place on Wednesday, February 11th, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at The Substation in Roslindale.

Truths Our Bodies Tell is an evening where movement carries memory. In this company concert, Danza Orgánica presents six original dance works drawing from our origins, our embodied landscapes, our dystopian realities, and the truths we carry forward.

Original choreography by: Claudia Varela, Marcel Santiago Marcelino, and Mar Parrilla.

Divised movement by: Juliet Salameh Oliver, and members of Danza Orgánica.
