Denyel Fonseca

Transformation Project Coordinator

Born and raised in Boston, Denyel was a METCO student who graduated from Concord Carlisle Regional High School. She’s pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the Westfield State University where she is a part of the Urban Education program and was also inducted into the Psi Chi International Honors Society in Psychology.

Denyel’s first memorable city experience was at the nonprofit organization Crossroads, where she attended camp and later became an employee. During her years working with the organization she helped to provide a safe place for children and teens who experienced trauma or crisis. Denyel has also worked as an Assistant Site Director for the Hyde Park YMCA, in addition to being a Preschool UPK Assistant Teacher at Crispus Attucks Children’s Center in Dorchester.

She also served as the Hyde Park Liaison for Neighborhood Services for three years, a role that pushed her out of her comfort zone and fostered significant personal growth. This experience instilled in her a deep confidence and passion for community service, allowing her to find and amplify her voice in impactful ways. Denyel discovered a calling to heal and empower others, helping them uncover their own inner light. Supporting her community has not only given her a voice, but also a profound sense of fulfillment and peace.

Denyel is committed to continuing this journey, particularly in uplifting artists and creatives, as she believes in the power of community connection. Her time with the City of Boston taught her that belonging means being part of something larger than herself, and she aims to nurture that spirit in every community she joins.

In her free time, Denyel loves to meditate, sing, write, and listen to music. She also loves the outdoors and when the weather permits, enjoys activities such as swimming, hiking, and camping.
