Janai Busby is a zealous creative with over 7 years of experience in youth programming. Her passion focuses on developing engaging content and creating spaces to prioritize and amplify youth voices throughout Boston. Janai is a proud Dorchester resident, and holds a BA in Business Management with a focus in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from UMass Boston. 

Janai began her City of Boston workforce journey in 2014 as a SuccessLink Teen, where she worked for the Boston Park Rangers as a highschooler. Following this, she signed on to continue working for the SuccessLink program itself and made her debut as a City of Boston employee with the Department of Youth Engagement and Employment (DYEE). Throughout her time at DYEE, she served as the Engagement and Outreach Coordinator, specializing in graphic design and community engagement. She went on to step into a full time role within the Department, leading the external communications and community building for the Department city wide. Janai took her next step within the City and joined the Office of Youth Engagement and Advancement (OYEA), serving as the Communications and Outreach Manager. In this role, she continued advancing her long-standing mission of amplifying youth voices and creating spaces and opportunities for young people across the city. Most recently, Janai has joined the Human Services Cabinet as the Director of Communications.

When Janai is not out and about in the city sharing resources and meeting with community members, she enjoys reading thriller novels, designing and building enclosures for her snakes, and being a pet mom!
