Kristina McGeehan

Communications Director

As Communications Director for the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture, Kristina McGeehan (pronouns: she/her/hers) is responsible for notifying the public of announcements within the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture as well as local arts events and opportunities through social media, newsletters, videos, and press releases.

A Dorchester native, Kristina earned her bachelor’s in Journalism with a minor in Political Communications from Emerson College in 2016 and her master's in Corporate and Organizational Communication from Northeastern University in 2020. While at Emerson, she made her way through several local media organizations, interning at WCVB and WBZ before landing a job as a web producer at WHDH. Prior to coming to the City of Boston, she gained valuable marketing experience at a small startup in Needham called CollegeWeekLive. She also got to explore her beloved hometown of Dorchester through a unique lens by working as a freelance reporter for the Dorchester Reporter. Some of her most memorable journalism experiences include interviewing CEO of the New England Patriots Robert Kraft, meeting Pete Frates and assisting in the coverage of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and interviewing the father of the late Boston Bruins player Jimmy Hayes.

Kristina has always had a passion for storytelling, especially through writing, photography, and videography. She loves being able to integrate these interests into her work here at the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture.
